Welcome to my first blog entry. My goal is to use this forum share my thoughts as Landscape Designer in Nashville Tennessee. From The Plant Palette will be monthly entry discussing my favorite plants to use in landscape designs. This month I decided to feature the ground cover Sedum rupestre 'Angelina', which goes by the common name of Angelina Sedum. In recent years, this has been showing up at Lowe's and Home Depot in the spring (grown by Stacy's), but it sells out fast. The test beds of this evergreen plant have done wonderfully in my Hermitage garden and it does not require much maintenance. In fact, Angelina Sedum can tolerate some levels of neglect! In my opinion, the color of the foliage is it's most striking character. Here is a snapshot of information to help you plant enthusiasts, designers, and do-it-yourselfers.

Common Name: Angelina Sedum
Plant spacing: 18-24" (plant closer for more immediate coverage)
Sun Exposure: Full sun, but can tolerate some partial shade (6 hours sun)
Soil Type: Normal, clay, but amending clay soil is recommended for quick growth and plant health
Foliage Color: Vibrant yellow gold with accents of burnt orange in the winter. Evergreen in TN
Flower Color: Yellow in late May/ early June, about 8"
high, does not contrast against foliage
